SEKONDI GOES RED AS YOUTH DEMAND ENSTOOLMENT OF A CHIEF

A group calling itself Concern Citizens of Sekondi, in the Western Region have embarked on a massive demonstration over a protracted chieftaincy dispute in the traditional area which has hampered the royal family from enstooling a chief for the town. The demonstration is to mount pressure on city authorities and the king makers of the Sekondi Traditional area to enstool a substantive chief for Sekondi. For close to fifteen years now the Sekondi Traditional area has been without chief since the demise of the then paramount chief, Nana Awuah Duku in May 17, 2003 As a result the group amidst brass band have been demonstrating across the principal streets of the community. As part of the demonstration the group will petition the queen mother of the traditional area the Metropolitan Chief Executive, the house of chiefs and the Regional Minister. Father jailed 15 years for raping daughter in Tarkwa

A 45-year-old mason, who was arrested for impregnating his biological daughter, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Tarkwa Circuit Court. Samuel Ansah had pleaded guilty to the charge of incest and was convicted on his own plea. The victim, a first-year Junior High School (JHS) student is carrying a two-month-old pregnancy. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Essel-Dadzie told the court that the girl had been living with Ansah at Aboso in the Prestea Huni/Valley District of the Western Region. She fell sick and the convict mixed a substance with Kaisa apple drink and gave it to her to drink. The unsuspecting daughter did as she was told by the father but immediately after taking it she became dizzy after which he locked the door and had sex with her. The demonstration which is slated on the 13 th of March 2018 is to mount pressure on the traditional king makers to enstool a substantive chief for the Sekondi traditional For close to fifteen years now the Sekondi Traditional area has been without chief since the demise of the then paramount chief, Nana Awuah Duku in May 17, 2003. The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mahamadu Buhari, has thrown his weight behind President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the fight against corruption in Ghana. Delivering the Special Guest of Honour Speech during Ghana’s 61st Independence Anniversary Parade at the Black Star in Accra, President Buhari congratulated Akufo-Addo and parliament for passing the Special Prosecutor Bill to fight endemic corruption. Ahanta West: Three in the grips of the law for an alleged unlawful instllation of chief .

Three persons have been dragged before  the  Sekondi District Court for unlawful installation of a chief at  Aketenchie Divisional area in the Ahanta  West District   without the endorsement of the legitimate  king makers. The case which involved three accused persons Nana Taiba ll, Kwaw Prah and Ernest Amoah has suffered couple of adjournment to enable the court to decide whether or not it has jurisdiction to trial the case. Just this morning the court presided over by His Worship Jonathan Avogo ruled to enable the case to be heard. This saw the  two of the accused persons being charged with Abatement and breach of the public peace with the third accused person, Kwaw Prah being charged with acting as a chief when not qualified. The three accused person pleaded not guilty to their respective charges and where remanded accordinly. But upon a persistent plea by their Council the court granted the trio bail.
