LIKE SERIOUSLY??: Chinese Boss asks Ghanaian workers to apologize to his dogs

Local workers of the Ghana Household Utilities Manufacturing Company Limited (GHUMCO), in Takoradi, are being forced to apologize to wild dogs belonging to their Chinese Factory Manager whose name was only given as Mr Zhu.
The workers recounted how most of them have suffered dog bites at the premises of the company, yet were compelled to write apology letters to the Factory Manager, irrespective.
According to Kofi Ntow (not real name), after a severe dog bite, a worker is forced to write an apology letter to the dog instead, failure of which will lead to one’s dismissal.
The workers further lament over zero payment of allowances and compensations to injured workers, poor safety measures at the factory, and poor salaries coupled with long working hours of working without benefits, among others.
An employee of GHUMCO, Joseph Essien has been working with the company for thirty years. His take home pay is GHC 350.
The worker at the centre of the recent development, Isaac Kojo Brace, takes GHC 250.00 as his take home. He’s worked with the company for over eighteen years He told our reporter, Mpimpimhene Nana Gyetuah, that salaries of workers ranges from GHC 200 and 350. Some of the workers, in an interview with Skyy News, lamented on the poor working conditions which the workers are exposed to.
Mr. Isaac Kojo Brace was this morning sacked from the premises by Mr. Zhu for failing to obey his orders. After several protests by the workers to resist the dismissal of Mr. Brace, Mr. Zhu reverted his decision and restored him back to duty.
We are still monitoring the development, and will update you with any further developments.
