Ghana Ranked 81st in 2017 Corruption Perception Index

The 2017 edition of  corruption perception index ranked Ghana  81st out of 180 countries involved in the survey.  The survey which was done by  the Transparency International reveal a massive  drop  from 70th position in 2016 to 81st position in 2017 in   terms of public perception of corruption in public sector. This was contained in the latest (2017) Corruption Perception Index (CPI) in 180 countries and territories. Out of a possible score of 100 percent Ghana had 40 percent. This according to the Executive Director for Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) Linda Ofori Kwafo is the worst performance by the country in the combat against corruption. ln a press briefing last Wednesday, Mrs Kwafo indicated the country fell 3 points below its score in 2016 (43%), and 7 points cumulative for the 2015 score of 47%. Prioritize construction of CHIP compounds to boost healthcare delivery- Health Director to AWMA

The Municipal Health Director, of the Ahanta West Municipality Caroline Otoo, is urging the Municipal Chief Executive and assembly members of the Assembly to prioritize the construction of CHIPS compounds in the municipality. According to her, it is incumbent on the district to make it a policy to construct at least two CHPs compound in a community as part of efforts to promote community health delivery. Speaking to journalists, on the sidelines of an annual performance review meeting, Mad. Otoo expressed worry with the inadequate number of CHIPS compound in the municipality.  She mentions the entire Ahanta West municipality cannot boast of a single well-furnished CHPS compound. She stated that works on two CHPS compound which were being built by the assembly have been suspended, with the project subsequently abandoned at various stages of completion. The Minister of Defense Hon. Dominic Nitiwul has condemned the growing tendency of military attacks on civilians in the country. He said it is needless and wrong for uniformed men to exhibit needless military bravado on armless civilians. His comments comes on the heels of series of military brutality in the region.  Just last year it as reported a military personnel had brutalized a teacher to the point of death at Axim in the Ahanta West municipality. But in an in interview with the Host of Jolly Breakfast Samuel Kojo Brace. Mr Nitiwul indicates his outfit is poised on dealing with any military personnel found culpable of the said act. FATHER AND SON MURDER TENANT AT WASSA AKROPONG ( GORY PHOTOS)

The  Wassa Akropong police  have arrested a father and a son for allegedly butchering to death a 52 year old tenant at Wassa Adiembra near Wassa Akropong in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region. The suspects – Mallam Kofi Ibrahim, 75 and his son Kojo Ibrahim 30, reported themselves to the chief of the community after they committed the said dreadful act. The chief upon hearing the news handed the duo to the Wassa Akropong district police command where they are being investigated. Currently police investigations has not reveal the reason behind the gruesome murder. But rumor have it that, Mallam Ibrahim killed Kwesi Appiah the deceased   over a piece of cassava farm land with the two   inflicting several cutlass wounds on the head and other part of the deceased body.
