INDICIPLINE MILITARY PERSONELS WILL BE PUNISHED - DOMIC NITIWUL.
The
Minister of Defense Hon. Dominic Nitiwul has condemned the growing tendency of
military attacks on civilians in the country.
He said it is needless and
wrong for uniformed men to exhibit needless military bravado on armless
civilians.
His comments comes on the
heels of series of military brutality in the region.
Just last year it as
reported a military personnel had brutalized a teacher to the point of death at
Axim in the Ahanta West municipality.
But in an in interview
with the Host of Jolly Breakfast Samuel Kojo Brace. Mr Nitiwul indicates his
outfit is poised on dealing with any military personnel found culpable of the
said act.
He adds already the
military high command is investigating cases of military brutality and the
culprit involved when found guilty will be made to face the full rigors of the
law.
“Every single case of
military brutality is going to be dealt with. The military has activated all
internal security measures to ensure that investigations are carried out and
any military person who will be fund culpable s going to be dealt with”.
Mr Nitiwul advised the
general public to report cases of indiscipline military personals to the police
or the commanding officer for action to be taken.
Mr Nitiwul however
admonished companies to desist from contracting the services of
military for
their individual benefits.
According to him
“companies who want to engage the services of the security service should first
contact the police it when the police are unable to do that, then the Police
will require the service of the military”
“We have to desist from
using the police has the first point of call… when we are able to that it will
help prevent indiscipline military personnel from taking advantage to brutalize
civilians”.
