SPECIALIZE IN MIGRATION REPORTING- NGO TELLS JOURNALISTS


The Executive Director for Media Response, Mr. Samuel Dodoo is urging journalists to specialize in reporting on migration and produce more news items on migration in their news bulletin.

This he says  forms part of effort to discourage irregular migration and provide credible information to promote regular migration among the teaming Ghanaian youths.

Mr Dodoo bemoan Ghanaian journalists penchant to generate news stories more on political related issues  at the expense of other delicate socio- economic issues, and this has been the bed rock of our challenges as a country”

“Most journalists in this country focus on general and political stories at the expense of sensitive social issues like irregular migration. Just a handful of journalists have specialized In  reporting on socio- economic issues and this has hinder the progress of this country has most important issues which journalists are to bring to light  remain   hidden” he said

The executive director, made the revelation on the sidelines of   three days workshop organized by media response with funding from European Union and Ecowas commission.

The three days workshop trained journalists in social media  use in news reportage and storytelling with infographics to equip journalists with the skills in reporting on migration.
