Mrs Nduom build dormatory for her Alma mater
Mrs Yvonne Sterlin Nduom in collaboration with Groupe Nduom has constructed an ultra modern dormitory for her Alma mater, Archbishop Porters Girls school in Takoradi in the Western Region.
The dormitory block christened : Yvonne Sterlin Nduom is named after the benefactor an old girl of the school who initiated and financed the project.
The project forms part of Groupe Nduom's initiative of giving back to the society and the edge to improve quality education in the country.
The new dormitory which was constructed by the York properties the construction arm of Groupe Nduom will accommodate over 200 students and has two bedroom flat as accommodation for house mistresses.
Presenting the keys of the dormitory to the Headmistress of the School, Mrs. Mary Brako, Mrs. Nduom stated that her passion for girl child education motivated her to build for the school.
" Education is very dear to my husband and l so we have set up an education fund which we are using to provide infrastructural support and provide scholarship for intelligent but needy students to ensure that no child is left out in education in this country "
The wife of the business nigel, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom recounted the role her Alma mater played in her formative stage in life and said it was only prudent that she contributed to the ever growing success story of the school.
She said, " most of my character were moulded here, my very best friends were met here over 50 years ago, we were given not only academic knowledge but invaluable life skills which went a long way to make me a lady of substance now... So my heart is full of joy standing on this ground to donate this edifice to my Alma mater"
She admonished the students to make good use of the facility to enhance their academic performance.
The Achbishop Porters Girl is one of the top schools with in the Region and currently ranked ninth in the list of best school in Ghana.
The school, now has four dormitories to to accommodate students and would help to ease the pressure on the existing facilities.
Mrs Mary Ama Brako appreciated Groupe Nduom for the kind gesture stating that the new dormitory has come at the right time.
She used the opportunity to call on corporate institutions to take a cue from this donation and come to the aid of the the school as the population continued to grow.
The school requested for musical instruments and beds to help the school in socialization and comfortable sleep respectively.
The Vicar General of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan area, Reverend Francis Abuah-Quansah, consecrated the building for the use of the school children.
