DCE for Shama District Hon Joseph Amoah replies Youth, denies recruitment allegations




The DCE for Shama District Hon Joseph Amoah has vehemently debunked allegations by some irate youths of Aboadze - Abuesi accusing him of thwarting   their efforts of being employed at the Aboadze thermal power enclave.

The youth alleged that the DCE is ensuring the recruitment of non-natives to work at Amandi Energy, the company managing the power enclave and failure to sack him will ruin the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) chances in the 2020 elections.

The aggrieved youth further alleged the DCE has converted the assembly to b e   a recruitment center asking them  to apply for  jobs via t his office.

But addressing the press on Monday, September 24, 2018 at  the district assembly the Hon. Joseph Amoah has shoot  down the said allegation describing them  has palpable lies a and political machinations targeted at tarnishing his reputation a n d t h e good works of the assembly”.

Unveiling the faces behind the youth upraise

At the press briefing Mr Amoah fingered assembly member of Aboadze , Hon   K Baido for instigating  the youth against the assembly the member of parliament.

This he explain the Hon. K  Baido has been  consistently rejecting measure by the assembly including “an earlier MOU which was to  be signed between the assembly members,  chiefs and the management of Amandi with the assembly acting has witness to the agreement”.

“ let me put it on record that this same MOU which  Hon   K Baido objected to has been put in place  by West  African Gas Pipeline Company ( WAPCO)  and Ghana Gas Company who are also doing project at the enclave, of which some  members in his  community have  been gainfully employed. So why not Amandi?  Is the assembly man saying that what is good for t he goose is not good  for the gander?” He quiz

Road  map for job creation

According the honorable the DCE his outfit is rather poised on seeking employment for the teaming unemployed youth within   the Shama district.
AS  a result “ a stakeholders  meeting  will be  conveyed to  draft a Memorandum of   Understanding (MOU) which will serve has  guide  for employment of qualified youth  in the district into  the company”

“Additionally, we are concerned to create alternative employment through such government policies like one district   one factory, Planting for Food and Jobs and NABCO...as if that is not enough the MP and are making frantic effort t o woe investors from   Italy to   establish a Waste to Energy plant in the Shama district, all in effort to create employment for our youth” he said   


Jobs created so fare

Against allegation that no native of the Shama has been employed to  the Amandi Power enclave Hon. Joseph Amoah posited that  as at  28th August 2018, Amandi and its sub – contractors have employed one  thousand, five hundred and nine  Ghanaians , out of which five hundred and two are natives of Aboadze and surrounding  communities.

“ Besides Management of Twyford ceremics also averred that almost 50%  of their work  for of their workforce of about eight  hundred,  came from   Aboadze  and its surrounding  towns and villages So l find It mind  bugling  that the youth are alleging that companies here are not recruiting indigence of the community”.


Mr Amoah then urged the youth of the community to exercise patient since the job creation is  one of the priority of the Akuffo Addo government and it is his quest to bring development into their life  by enabling  an amicable environment  for t hem to be employed.
