ECG installing 61 new transformers across the Western Region

The Western Region Office of the Electricity Company of Ghana is currently installing 61 new transformers across the region. This is to cement the integrity of its networks and thereby guarantee uninterrupted power supply. Currently, the company’s technical team have finished injecting new transformers at Sefwi Wiawso and Sefwi Bekwai. According to the Western Region Public Relations Officer of the Electricity Company of Ghana Philip Osei Bonsu “plans are also underway to extend power to new communities”. Even though the project is capital intensive, he said ECG will see to its logical conclusion to ensure uninterrupted power supply. Mr. Osei Bonsu disclosed that, “ aside the installation of transformers the ECG is embarking on  16 major projects that is currently on going to improve the situation of power supply in the region… these are very capital intensive but we need to do it to give our customers quality service”. George Ayisi's apology is laughable - Lecturer

Social commentator and Lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School Dr. Kobby Mensah, is describing the apology from Mr. George Ayisi – Boateng, Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa as a farce. Mrs Nduom build dormatory for her Alma mater

Mrs Yvonne Sterlin Nduom in collaboration with Groupe Nduom has constructed an ultra modern dormitory for her Alma mater, Archbishop Porters Girls school in Takoradi in the Western Region. The dormitory block christened : Yvonne Sterlin Nduom is named after the benefactor  an old girl of the school who initiated and financed the project. The project forms part of Groupe Nduom's initiative of giving back to the society and the edge to improve quality  education  in the country. The new dormitory which was constructed by the York properties the construction arm of Groupe Nduom will accommodate over 200 students and has two bedroom flat as accommodation for house mistresses. GREL TO KICK START BUILDING NEW FACTOY SOON

Ghana Rubber Estate limited ( GREL) will soon construct a second  rubber processing factory at Apimanim in the Ahanta West of  the Western region to increase  its production and export of processed  rubber. The project is estimated to cost 25 million euros and will see it completed in 2020. The new factory forms part of GREL’s initiative to increase rubber production and processing to meet the raising demand of rubber on the global market. Per  GREL’s record, in 2016 the consumption of natural rubber stood at 9.4 million tons and it Is projected to shot up to 11.9 million tons in 2020 and 14.4 million tons by 2035, making it  necessary for GREL to expand its capacity to enable it process and export more latex to rake in foreign exchange for the country. Managing Director of the Ghana Rubber Estates Limited (GREL), Lionel Barre is calling on government to as matter of urgency halt  private individuals from buying rubbers from farmers and exporting them in their raw state. MAN,JAILED FIVE YEARS FOR STEALING

        A Kumasi circuit court has slapped a 5 years jail sentence on an electric welder for stealing four mobile phones at Santasi a suburb of Kumasi when his victims  were fast asleep. The convict: Dennis Adu Adjei,32 was convicted on his own plea of guilty simpliciter to his charge of unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage and stealing, and was convicted accordingly. Denis Adu Adjei, in an open court confessed to committing the crime and pleaded the trail judge to temper justice with mercy and be lenient in sentencing him. Two men who conspired with a pistol to steal a lady who was asleep in her room of a her sumsong mobile phone have been sentence to total 14 years imprisonment. This was after the court presided over by Her Honor Mary M.E Nsenkyire found Emmanuel Akalu,20, mechanic and Precious Kuufar, 22, who is unemployed guilty on four count of conspiracy, unlawful entry,stealing and unlawful possesion of fire arm. Before convicting the accused, the accused went on their kneels in the dock asking her to temper justice with mercy.The learnard trail judge factored in their plea for mitigation and the fact that they are first offenders and they are young. COURT REMAND NOTORIOUS ASH-TOWN ARMED ROBBER A Kumasi circuit court has ordered Richard Owusu alias Thousand into prison custody for robbery at a knife point at Ash-Town a suburb of Kumasi. Richard Owusu, who is only 22 and noted for many nefarious robbery activities within the vicinity of Ash-Town. TWO POLICEMEN REMANDED FOR ROBBERY

Five men, including two police men  were on Tuesday  remanded by a Kumasi circuit court into prison custody for allegedly robbing some chines business men at gun point at Tabosere a village near Manso Nkwanta. The accused- D/L/CPL. Kafui Kumah, 25, a police man   G/L/CPL. Daniel Omari, 31, a police man, Prince Akotula aged 38 years, trader, Aboagye Kwarteing, 22 years, trader, Kwadwo Charles, 31 years ,a driver, were said to have conspired and robbed two Chinese business men; Shown Gping and Hai Heng of their three mobile phones, quantity of gold concentrates sand and cash sum of GH 4,000.00.
