MP FOR SEKONDI SIGNS MOU WITH AUBURN UNIVERSITY

The Member of parliament for Sekondi constituency, Andrew Egyapa Mercer Esq.  has signed a memorandum of understanding with Auburn University.

The MoU forms part of the honorable member of parliament's initiative to improve upon education and health in Sekondi and it related communities.

As part of the MoU, Auburn University which is based in Alabama will
annually hold  health screening in the month of  March, a youth camp to harness and train the youth of Sekondi in various skills, and exchange programmes are to be carried out jointly with partners.

The MoU got its final endorsement after  a team from the Auburn University and Lawyer Andrew Mercer paid a working visit to the Mayor of Sekondi metropolis  Mr K. K Sam

In a briefing on the purpose of the collaboration, MP for Sekondi Andrew Mercer states, the initiative falls within a campaign promise in improving health and educational standards in his constituency and the western region.

" As the member of parliament for Sekondi constituency it has always been on my heart to improve upon the quality of life of people of Sekondi constituency.... This MOU between Sekondi constituency and Auburn University will aid in  improving education and health in the constituency with Auburn University  providing training for youths and  medical assistance to better the life of people of Sekondi and its environs "

On her part, the coordinator of Auburn University Outreach Global, Dr. Elizabeth Essamuah - Quansah says the university is pleased with the interest shown by the MP in providing academic excellence for his people.

She says some deliberations have been advanced in respect of health care provision and training which is expected to take off in the month of March this year.

" The annual free health clinic will commence this March. We will bring students and professors from Auburn University school of nursing for the two days  health clinic. On the spot medication will be provided and we will refer all emergency cases to Effia - Nkwanta hospital".

Mayor for the STMA , Anthony K.K Sam assures the delegation his office will work assiduously to meet provisions of the MOU.
